We know what to do (many to-do lists), but a "central integrated theme" seems to be missing. High Energy comes in spurts and dissipates fast. What is missing? You could be stuck in one or more of the following:

Pending work, Regular work, Administrative tidbits

Some-day/May be lists

Others' (sometimes huge, and "always" un-met) expectations

"Safe" plans of action but uninspiring

"Dream" action plan but not enough courage to move on those ideas

Relationship problems

Financial issues

Health Problems

Apathy

So, Where to Begin?

Here are some recommended places:

For courage, start with Steve Pavlina's article The Courage To Live Consciously.

If it is a financial discipline problem, go through Trent Hamm's blog The Simple Dollar (read his “financial biography” here).

For clarity in "planning and execution", David Allen's book "Getting Things Done" is one the best places to start.

For Emotional Intelligence, Scott Peck's "A Road Less Traveled" is brilliant.

For health (and relationship) problems, read "You Can Heal Your Life" by Louise Hay.

For simple productivity through Habits, see Leo Babauta's blog "Zen Habits".

For spiritual clarity, Neale Donald Walsch's "Conversations with God" is very useful.

For relationship with God, read "How to Know God" by Deepak Chopra.

What would you like to add?

What you REALLY wish is weird?

Is there something that you REALLY would like to do in life, but didn't go around doing "it" because of a reason?

Probably, you think "it" is weird, or, one or more of the following:

Not practical

Not possible

What would others think

It would be Stupid

Dont Know How

Dont Have Time

Dont Have Cash

I am not good enough

I will do it when I retire

There are many ways to TRANSCEND these, or any mental barriers, you may have:

1. What is your work about?

What is your job, career or business? Are you LIVING or MAKING a living?

Harold Whitman had said:

Do not ask yourself what the world needs
Ask yourself what makes you come alive
And then go and do that
Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.

In the spring of 1994, Oriah Mountain Dreamer, went to a party-an ordinary party, and she shares her experience:

...I made an effort, a real effort, to be sociable. I asked and answered the usual questions: What do you do for a living? How do you know the host? Where did you study? Where do you live? And I came home with the familiar hollow feeling of having gone through the motions. So, I sat down and did what I often do to sort out what is going on--I wrote. Using the format of a writing exercise that had been given to me by poet David Whyte I wrote about the party conversations--what really did not interest me and what I really did want to know about others, about myself.

I went to the centre of the ache for something more between myself and the world and the prose-poem, “The Invitation”, poured onto the page:

It doesn't interest me what you do for a living. I want to know what you ache for, and if you dare to dream of meeting your heart's longing.

It doesn't interest me how old you are. I want to know if you will risk looking like a fool for love, for your dream, for the adventure of being alive.

It doesn't interest me what planets are squaring your moon. I want to know if you have touched the center of your own sorrow, if you have been opened by life's
betrayals or have become shriveled and closed from fear of further pain! I want to know if you can sit with pain, mine or your own, without moving to hide it or fade
it, or fix it.

I want to know if you can be with joy, mine or your own, if you can dance with wildness and let the ecstasy fill you to the tips of your fingers and toes without
cautioning us to be careful, to be realistic, to remember the limitations of being human.

It doesn't interest me if the story you are telling me is true. I want to know if you can disappoint another to be true to yourself; if you can bear the accusation of
betrayal and not betray your own soul; if you can be faithless and therefore trustworthy.

I want to know if you can see beauty even when it's not pretty, every day,and if you can source your own life from its presence.

I want to know if you can live with failure, yours and mine, and still stand on the edge of the lake and shout to the silver of the full moon, “Yes!”

It doesn't interest me to know where you live or how much money you have. I want to know if you can get up, after the night of grief and despair, weary and bruised to the bone, and do what needs to be done to feed the children.

It doesn't interest me who you know or how you came to be here. I want to know if you will stand in the center of the fire with me and not shrink back.

It doesn't interest me where or what or with whom you have studied. I was already asking this question using the acronym - Unique Self Expression!

Now, Universal Soul Energy synchronizes well with that:-)

So, your Unique Self Expression connects your Universal Energy with all Souls!

She offers a helpful clue: whatever you dislike and typically judge in other people, write
it down and then think of the opposite. This will usually be a U.E. for you. For example, you have a hard time with messy, disorganized people. The opposite of messy is orderly. Order is one of your U.E.’s.

It bothers you when people are inconsiderate or forget to acknowledge what they have received. You’re always reminding the children to say thank you. You realize that gratitude is another one of your Universal Energies.

Some possible Universal Energies: Abundance, beauty, compassion, delight, expression, happiness, honesty, order, power.

Finally she tell us to Clarify original intent in moments of joy. It may take some backtracking to get to the original intent.

She explains: Let’s say your moment is when you are teaching young children to sing in your daycare facility. When you think back to the reason you were teaching them you realize it is because you do care about the lives of others. You want to ensure that young people feel loved and fulfilled. When you ask yourself Why do I do that? you realize that your intent at a deeper level is to create a world where people are more loving, expressive, and powerful. This reminds you of how you love to feel yourself. Your true intent is to share your happiness with others through having a loving impact on young people.

So let me know, which of your Unique Self Expressions connects your Universal Energy with all Souls!

How To Be A Billionaire!

In a follow-up to the latest list of billionaires, Maureen Farrell asks us "Are You Born To Be A Billionaire?"

Some of her findings:

1. Do What You Love To Do!

For millions of people all over the world, it is difficult to "Find out what they love to do". Even if they have an inkling about what they love to do, they have no clue as to how to go about "Doing What You Love" as a career.

Brian Kim says in How to Find What You Love to Do:

What absolutely boils my blood is that we hear we should be doing what we love to do all the time, but there’s not any step by step advice out there on how to find what you love to do. The advice that is out there helps to a certain degree, but it’s just a bunch of pieces thrown together with no coherent logical structure or order.

Susan Basalla May also hits a nerve when she says in How To Do what You Love:

Unfortunately, this suggestion sounds irritatingly vague to someone in the throes of job hunting. What if you love being an academic and are being driven out of the profession by a weak job market? What if you have a number of different passions (dogs, French colonial history, and country music) that don't add up to any recognizable career? What if you just don't know what you want to do?

While describing How to Do What You Love, Paul Graham eloquently describes how the society conspires to take us away from "Doing what we love to". He concludes:

Whichever route you take, expect a struggle. Finding work you love is very difficult. Most people fail. Even if you succeed, it's rare to be free to work on what you want till your thirties or forties. But if you have the destination in sight you'll be more likely to arrive at it. If you know you can love work, you're in the home stretch, and if you know what work you love, you're practically there.

Brian Kim opines that It’s not hard at all to to find what you love to do. His Do-It-Yourself model:

Step 1: You WILL find the answer. No doubt.
Step 2: Make a list of your skills and interests in two columns and WRITE THEM DOWN.
Step 3: Set aside some TRUE alone time with no distractions to focus and figure out what you love to do by asking yourself the right questions.

For example:

What would I love to do on a daily basis utilizing both my skills and interests that will add significant value to people?

Susan Basalla May also outlines various strategies to "for putting the do-what-you-love philosophy into practice":

1. Finding Work You Love Takes Time

Even if you think you've already identified the right new career for yourself, it may take several years to gain enough experience to reach the position you want.

Don't put too much pressure on yourself -- be patient. As long you're heading in the general direction of whatever interests you, you're making good progress.

2. Avoid the Easy Answers

Take time to look beyond your academic specialty and investigate new fields.

3. Start Your Job Search From the Inside Out

An exercise known as "Seven Stories" -- from Kate Wendleton's book, Through the Brick Wall: How to Job-Hunt in a Tight Market (Random House, 1993), can help you evaluate your interests and skills from a different perspective.

Here's how it works: Make a list of 20 accomplishments - from anytime in your life - that you enjoyed doing and did well. You can mix childhood memories with recent events, and big professional moments with trivial victories. It may take you a few days to come up with your list.

Then, pick out the seven stories that seem most powerful to you, the ones that seem most characteristic of who you are. Write a paragraph about each of them describing what you did, how you felt, and the skills you demonstrated. You'll notice some surprising similarities. As you consider various career paths, compare them against your list of stories to see if they would draw upon the skills that you most enjoy using.

4. Dive In

While thoughtful decision-making is important, the best way to discover what you want to do is to simply try something new.

She concludes:

The key is having faith and trusting that your path will become clear eventually.

Last word to a reader - Bronwyn, who while commenting on Brian Kim's article, says:

So when you look over your goals, and one seems right, but you’re still finding excuses to not do what you have to do, that’s not it. It might be a close relative, but it’s not the one. Keep looking and you’ll find the goal that makes you counter every objection with a solution, the one where you’d happily pay whatever it takes, cash and years on the barrelhead right now. The path that makes you quiver with eagerness like a hunting dog on the point, the one over there you’ve been ignoring because you’ll have to learn a difficult new skill like drawing, or face big mistakes and big fears, and you didn’t believe you could do those things? That’s the one.

Admit how much you really want to go down it, tell yourself you really can do it, and then your passion will take over and you will not let anything keep you from it.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://inspirebusiness.blogspot.com/2008/03/how-to-find-out-do-what-what-you-love.html' title='How to Find Out & font-weight: bold;">they have to bring in an element of "manipulation" to "persuade" a customer to buy a product or service.

If you come in this category then your relationship with the "selling process" could be transformed when you realize that Selling is a Service; and selling something of "real value" is actually a "Spiritual Service".

As Judith Sherven and Jim Sniechowski say:

If you have a solution to someone’s problem, and you truly believe your solution is of real value—.....you have an obligation to make what you do available to as many people as suits your need and desire.

We humans are emotionally, energetically, and spiritually connected—one-to-all.

So rather than seeing “selling” as something manipulative, something that diminishes the connection between people, selling is truly a profound connector of people—serving and supporting the well-being of both sides of the transaction.

The true depth of what it means to sell — that genuine selling is truly a spiritual service.

Heavenly Service!

Is money good? Is money bad?

Is capitalism good? Is socialism bad?

Can hard-core commercial businesses be considered "Spiritual"?

Can all commerce be "sacred"?

To get an insight on these fundamental questions, let us pick a joke by Jiddu Krishnamurti!

God has just completed the creation of world, with its ocean and continents and all the creatures, including the humans.

As he surveys his work, an angel points out that there is one small spot in the center of Europe that’s been left blank and empty.

The Lord says, ‘I must have overlooked the spot. What shall we do with it?’ And the angel answers, ‘If I may suggest it, Lord why don’t you create a land of milk and honey, called Switzerland—with snow-peaked mountains, streams, forests and green meadows, where cows graze that produce the best milk in the world?’

The Lord replies, ‘That sounds good. And what about the humans there?’ And the angel suggests, ‘Why not make them clean, orderly, and hard-working, with the greatest respect for money?’

And the Lord says, ‘So be it.’

And so it was done. After some time the Lord wants to see what he has created and goes down to Earth. He walks among the mountains, enjoying the beauty of the scenery. After a while he comes to a small village, very clean and orderly. As the day is getting hotter, he feels a bit thirsty. So he walks up to one of the cafés with outdoor tables and chairs.

The owner immediately recognizes him and comes running, greeting him with great respect, ‘O Lord, please sit down. It’s an extraordinary honor that You visit our small town and my humble café. Is there anything, anything, that we can do for You?’

The Lord is pleased and says, ‘By Jove, I noticed your splendid cows grazing out there. Give me a tall glass of cold, fresh milk.’

‘Immediately, O Lord.’

And the man trots off and returns with a tall glass of fresh, cold milk with foam on the top, and places in front of the Lord. He drinks it down with much enjoyment.

He’s just getting up from the table when the owner comes running and, with a respectful bow, places a small plate with the strip of paper in front of him. The Lord looks at it and asks the man, ‘What is that?’ The owner bows again and explains, ‘With all due respect, O Lord, that is the bill.’
~As told by Katinka Hesselink
